So, here is a guide to keep your bags in great condition to last you long!

Choosing it!

The first thing I would suggest everyone - carry different bags for different occasions. This will help you keep only the essentials required for that particular event. The plus side to this is that you will always look fabulous!

Another important thing to remember when you are shifting bags, is a constant wallet. Make sure you have your important stuff all in one purse, like money or cards. This will make shifting bags easy, you just have to take one major item.

Look for bags that have an attached lining in them. Many bags come with lining that aren't fully attached to the bag's sides and base, this has always proven to be troublesome! They tear around the corners and your stuff goes right through them.

Sizing it!

Yes, we all want Hermione Granger's magic bag, that fits the whole world in it! But sadly we cant! So the best thing to do is carry a bag that fits just the right amount of stuff.

Office - Choose a stiff bag, like a boxy shape. An Elbow Bag is a great choice. A bag like this will help you keep out the extras you try to stuff in. Just carry office essentials like wet wipes, wallet , a comb and a compact.

Function/Event/Party - Simply pick up a clutch/sling that matches your outfit for all kinds of parties. Do Not carry a shoulder bag. Keep your party essentials like a Lip Gloss, loose cash and a Pen Perfume. Show off the fabulous outfit with a chic bag.

When on Vacation - Pick out any size! Bigger the better! Holidays are meant to be packed and so are your vacay-bags. If you can carry it, take it. You will mostly need over sized totes with a little longer handles to ease your load. All said, I still suggest you not to stuff the tote and dislocate your dainty shoulders!
So enter backpacks! There are so many stylish picnic backpacks available in the market today. I love the one's that have a zipper on the side for easy access ( CLAIRE'S accessories shop). Carry this baby and be loaded while being stylish.

Storing it!

In a wardrobe- Please do not hang/stack your bags when storing them in a wardrobe. They get squashed inside and lose their shape. You have to dedicate a portion of your wardrobe to safely place the bags right side up, next to each other. The slouchy bags should be stuffed with newspaper when not in use. The sling bags should have their handles inside the pouch and stored and the leather or studded ones to be place inside the protective pouch they come in.

Hung on a hook - It is ok if you want to hang your bags, but make sure you are not hanging a truck load of them on one single hook. Give each category of bags different hooks ,like hang all slings together and all backpacks together.

On a shelf - This is the best way to keep your bags. If you have space on your wall for 1 or 2 shelves, get them drilled and place your bags on them. It gives you an easy access and also helps in keeping them in their perfect condition. Place the bags next to each other and your job is done. Just like shopping!

Caring for it!

Leather / Suede Bags- Genuine bags always come with a protective pouch. Do not throw away these cases as they are a great way to store. Just stuff some newspaper into the bags and place them in their own cases. There are waxes and leather polishes available in different shades. Buff your Leather bags once every fortnight. Use a soft cloth without water to just clean your Suede ones. If you are not confident then you can take them to Presto. These guys will fix you up good!

Studded Bags - They are rather delicate. A stud or stone may go missing without notice if they are exposed outside. Make sure your studded/embroidered bags do not touch other surfaces that could cut or pull the decorations. A great way to store them is by putting them in individual old pillow cases you don't use anymore.

Cloth Bags - No! You cannot wash them. If you have cloth bags that you like to carry for groceries, i suggest you fold them neatly and just stack them. They are low maintenance bags.

Clutches - They are small and easy to store. But if not kept properly they could get damaged faster than usual. I would advise not to leave them outside. You can put them in your over sized tote and zip them up. This way you have all your clutches in one place and they are dust free.

Lastly I would say, bags are a girl's best friend! Go on and get them in all shapes and colors!

Hope these nifty tricks helped you and your beautiful bags. Look good always and remember to Style It Right!
