What the skirt!

 Styling your skirts!

I have often wondered, why women go so wrong in wearing skirts and look like they are "mummy wrapped" waist below!!

The solution?!   Suit it to body type!!!
Skirts are a little tricky and all kinds do not look good on all shapes and sizes. Whatever you do, do not buy a skirt without Trying and Twirling!!

So, here are some tips you can use when you go out for skirt shopping next time.

Floral printed skirts are all the rage today. They are flirty, summer fresh and really lift up your mood. But, if worn wrong, you can go straight from stylish to "I'm wearing a wallpaper" !
Always buy floral skirts that have movement like light flowy fabrics or a print that is not too heavy to be all-over you.The pastel shades are always better rather than bold colors and patterns. The longer the better, do avoid short floral skirts-leave those to little girls!! Make the skirt the centre of your outfit by wearing a simple crop top and minimal jewelry.

OK,so it is not Issey Miyake's perfume-Pleats Please, but revolving around the same idea of sweetness and movement. A pleated skirt defines a girl to be stylish yet homey and cool. There are skirts that come in pre-pleated fabrics , or pleats hand-tucked into the waistband, whichever you choose, they will make you look leaner and taller.
Wear them with a top that has been tucked in or a crop top , accessorizing them with a belt or a hat. Again, these skirts are for a tall stature, so avoid buying a printed one. Ombre is also very flattering but make sure you are not ruining it with an unmatched top. Put on some sunglasses and you are ready to "chic"up the streets.

Everybody loves some Quirk in their outfit! And what better than a sweet little number in skirts. So there are quirky prints of all kinds, ranging from colorful fish to pizza !! Go a little crazy but not all the way or you will look like you are advertising burgers! Choose prints that are vague yet have an element of fun in them like the snails in the picture. Keep the length to a mini or just above knee to minimize the eye catching prints! Wear tank tops or cami's with statement jewelry pieces or scarves.
Don't go too flat with your footwear, wear a pair of wedges if not pumps. Those who are a little heavy on the bottom, please avoid these skirts, they will definitely look bulky at your hips!

My personal favourite, the net/tulle/organza(any of these fabrics) skirts. They are elegant, stylish, and yet make you want to skip like a little girl. It is truly a great skirt to own, infact everyone should have a tulle in their wardrobe staples. So there are skirts that are lined inside with either net or can-can-wear these for special occasions, there are skirts with satin enhancements and skirts that are just  plain layers and layers of net.
You can choose the longer ones for an evening out, the shorter ones for a flirty date or even the mid length ones for when you are feeling like a strong lady!
Plains have always done well, but if you can carry it off, then do go for the studded ones for a grander occasion. The best part is, you don't have to look too deep into body type while choosing these skirts. They have a body structure of their own and so it doesn't matter. But again bottom heavy women should avoid them in short lengths.
Wear a simple little top that is on the more fitted side, volumize your hair and you are ready for anything

I have also put up an "Essentials" board. These are some items that will always go well with any type of skirts you wear. Simple crop tops in the 2 basic colors, a pair of sunglasses and a sling bag will definitely make you instantly stylish.
