Cotton !Make it your BFF this summer!

All these types are easy breezy and can keep you cooler than the rest of the fabrics.
When choosing cotton though, you need to consider some of these factors ;
a) It must be color fast, that is it shouldn't bleed color
every time you wash it.
b)As we are sweating it out the outfit shouldn't have a lot
of lycra or stretch material as this can cause the garment to sag.
c)Yes there is
something called "too thin". Cotton can be versatile and in some cases, see
through. This may be fashionable and layer able, but the purpose is still
pending. The more we layer, the hotter we feel. Best to keep one garment on
the body at all times.
d)Too much starch wash for cotton clothes. Yes some people do believe in soak, starch and wash. I seriously don't see the need to weaken the fabric with this process. Starch or bleach can fray out the fibers of cotton and decrease its life span. Its best to use a good fabric conditioner at the end of the wash to keep the material lively.
Chambray ( Shom-bray or Sham-bray whatever it's French!).
So this is denim's lightweight cousin.

It is made from cotton blends and is the same kind of weaving which keeps it tight but light in weight. It stays cool and makes you look cooler!
It is a denim look alike, so if you don't wanna look like you're wearing your boyfriend's shirt, then I suggest a top or a dress with some thread work done on it.
Opt for some sleeve variations and try to avoid collared necklines. Tassels look great on these fabrics, Boho the better, right!

So, linen is known widely for its cool and absorbent qualities in hot weather.
Its what the Egyptians, Greek and Romans wore to keep cool while they rule! 😎
You can also layer, when you opt for linen as it is quite feathery and gives you the opportunity to style-up your outfit!
But that said, instead of stealing its thunder
I suggest you leave the one outfit to do all the talking. Wear linen blouse with a pair of shorts and sunglasses and who needs "fashion godmother"?!
Now let's talk about those who still have the craving to layer your outfits, this could be a time to consider Less is More!

Here's what you can do with styling layered clothes.
Scarves- make them
light weight, longer in length so your
neck isn't too wound up and in cool colors like, baby blue, Vaseline green or pearl white.
Make it a statement by not over accessorizing yourself, maybe a big tote bag and definitely Sunglasses!

Shrugs or cover-up's - Its pretty sensible to almost avoid them in summer. But sometimes they can spice up the outfit and there are definitely some pieces that are summer friendly.
So, Vests or waist coats, they are pretty open ended and breathable. The lightweight kinds are better than denim or cotton.
You can find these in so many pretty variations, opt for a longer length chiffon open vest that you can style with any outfit under.
Accessories
Jewelry- let's try to avoid chunky necklaces and
concentrate on headbands.
Jewelry specially if it is not a pure metal,
touches sweat and stains the skin. It's a great idea to wear jewelry only
when necessary.

This being said, minimal pieces are your go to jewelry.
Thread and bead earrings, cloth and wood bangles or bracelets and a really
funky headband will make you summer ready and keep you fashionable.
Footwear- it is pretty obvious to avoid socks and closed
shoes, but there is a thing to consider here. Weird tan lines on the feet!
Shoes protect the feet from direct light and help in controlling patchy tanned
skin. but this is only if you are absolutely in the sun all the time.
